Rochfort Rees, a new twist on the old … the old-fashioned wine business you might think because this boutique wine company which is spearheaded by Oliver Scutts is a prime example of a modern and consumer focused wine brand.
Listed in some of the best bars, this brand advocates “good times”. Simple as that! And although some might look for a deeper meaning when enjoying a glass of wine, this is what most of us are certainly in for.
Throw in great design, clever brand collabs – I’m sure you’ve seen the Rosé popsicle they created with Nice Blocks, if not find out more here, and a passionate team and you’re in for the new twist on the old, good times guaranteed!
So let’s find out a bit more about Rochfort Rees from its founder Oliver Scutts…
How did you get into wine?
I started originally in a bottle shop in Sydney then with my family after that.
What’s your go to tipple at the moment?
After drinking Rochfort Rees I have been really enjoying Coal Pit Pinot Noir from the Gibbston Valley, very delicate and well-balanced from a small producer.
What’s your signature wine?
Rosé, people have taken a huge shine to it, we never saw it coming and it’s great to see a different varieties emerging.
What makes Rochfort Rees special and different from other brands out there?
We like to focus on the consumer and design wines and products to suit our target market.
Funniest customer tasting story?
There are a lot of diverse customers and staff in all industries and to pinpoint is hard but I still remember selling my first full pallet of wine after trading for only a month to a little Irish fellow sitting in a bar at 3am.
Hot spots in Auckland?
I like to support my friends and people who have helped grow my brand:
Where can we find your wines?
All over Auckland … restaurants, bars and your local liquor stores.
