Tom McDonald (1907-1987) devoted his lifetime to producing outstanding New Zealand wines at the site of the current Church Road Winery in Hawke’s Bay.
Celebrating Tom’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit, Church Road McDonald Series wines are complex, textural and full of character and today we’re sipping the ’14 Cabernet Sauvignon to celebrate #winewednesday.
Church Road McDonald Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Hawke’s Bay
There is something really enigmatic about Cabernet Sauvignon, something so sophisticated and mature. It is a grape variety that can either completely seduce you or dominate you in a way that you are a bit off-put.
This Cabernet is the former with dark cherry and blackberries laced with mocha and toasted caramel. The inky texture and smooth round fruit instantly make you feel like you are at a gala evening full of witty repartee, and canapés that delight the senses.
Intricate yet wholeheartedly rich and full, it is a wine that celebrates what Cabernet Sauvignon in New Zealand can be.
